Tokaji Furmint 2003

This dry year produced strong dry wines in Tokaj. The alcohol was strong, but the taste also. We could try nice, full-bodied wines.
1, Disznókő Furmint 2003, Tokaj, 3.70 EUR
The painter would say: acrid-green. Soft apples and oranges nose, with almonds and pine-apple. Lemon start, with a basis of menthol. Soft charactered wine, dominated by bitterness. Good wine for everydays. The wine of the aquarelle-painter. Alcohol: 14.00%
2, Mandolás Furmint 2003, Oremus, 8.10 EUR
Mirror golden yellow. Creamy, vanilla barrique nose. Later the fruits are coming up with pears and mangos. Well structured wine, not heavy, but elegantly bodied. Very long, allspice finish. New world style, but interesting. Xmas drink, to accompany grandma’s perfume. Alcohol: 13,50%
3, Szent Tamás Furmint 2003, Szepsy István, Tokaj, 13.00 EUR
Sticky and like the sun in the mirror. Fresh bread and peaches nose. Like a late-harvested wine sweet taste with bitterness, in the end menthol chocolate and peanut-cookie feeling. A soid wine, to step on. Someone said: difficult to catch it, like a UFO. Diverse points from 65 to 86. 500 ml bottle, alcohol: 14,50%
Test date: 12. June 2006.
